Daily Update--Oct.31/12

ELA—Students need to have their crossword puzzle completed for Friday. They should have the jot notes of the events of chapter 3 in the novel already finished. Work on your third IRP.

Math—The assignment from yesterday—page 128-- is due tomorrow as we did not correct today.

Science—The crossword puzzle is due Friday.

Foods—The test is on Friday.

ELA--Your crossword puzzle--the answer key and the blank crossword with the clues is due Friday. You should be reading chapter 3 in the novel and making jot notes using the reading strategy of "Two-column notes". Work towards your third IRP which is due no later than Nov.8.

Math--4.1 in the textbook (page 128) #4, 5, 6 a to d, #7,8,9, and 11 for tomorrow.

Science--If you did not write the functions test today, be prepared to write it tomorrow. If your cell model is not in, it is late and must be in tomorrow.

French--Dictation is tomorrow. Work on your scrapbook.

Foods--Test on Nov.2.

We are having our reading/Halloween party tomorrow afternoon. If you offered to bring munchies tomorrow, please do not forget.

Daily Update--Oct.29/12

ELA--For unit 3 "Evidence of Learning", the students need to make up a crossword puzzle on grid paper. The rough draft should be close to finished for tomorrow. We started a new assignment for chapter 3 in the novel. Students need to read chapter 3 and as they are reading, they need to be using the 2-column note chart to make jot notes of important events that happened in the chapter. The third IRP is due by Nov.8th.

Math--Students left for volleyball at this time today, so we will be correcting worksheet 4.1 tomorrow.

Science--A quiz on the functions of the animal cell's organelles will be written tomorrow. Students also need to hand in their cell model with the legend and labelled diagram tomorrow.

ELA--Complete the Unit 3 booklet for Monday.  Get the pink assessment sheet on your vocabulary paragraph signed and returned to school.

Math--Get the unit test signed and returned to school. We started a new unit--Percents. Have worksheet 4.1 completed (questions #1 to 10) for Monday.

Science--Cell model is due Tuesday, and you will be writing a functions test on Tuesday as well.

Health--Test on Monday.

ELA--Students need to read chapter 2 of the novel with the purpose of understanding key events and details as they will be writing a comprehension test about this chapter tomorrow morning.  Vocabulary Unit 3 Synonyms and Antonyms page is due tomorrow.

Science--Work on your cell model as it is due no later than next Tuesday. Tuesday we will be writing a quiz on the functions of the organelles. Complete the concept map of the organelles that we started in class today.

 ELA--For tomorrow, students need to prepare for the unit 2 vocabulary test. Review the spelling, definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and proper usage of the words in sentences. The "Evidence of Learning" paragraph is also due tomorrow. We started reading our class novel, The Outsiders, today, and the students were assigned a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two groups. This is due Wednesday. The second IRP is due by Oct.19/Oct.22.

Math--The yellow worksheet questions #1 to 12, and #19 to 22 are due tomorrow.

SS--Students need to start collecting information for their personal timeline. They need dates and details.

ELA--Unit 2 vocabulary test is on Tuesday so students need to be reviewing every night. Their paragraph as "Evidence of Learning" is due Tuesday as well. Rough drafts as well as the good copy are due.

Math--On the green sheet, questions #9, 10  c and d, 12,13, and 17 c are due for Monday as well as the yellow sheet 1.1 questions #1 to 13 and then 1.4 and 1.5 #1 to 12 and 19 to 22.

SS--The students were introduced to the next major assignment which is a personal timeline so they need to start asking questions at home and collecting information.

French--Title page and sentences are due Monday.

ELA--The vocabulary test for unit 2 will be next Tuesday so students should be reviewing a few words every night. We started a new "Evidence of Learning" assignment for unit 2 so students need to brainstorm an idea for a paragraph incorporating 10 or more vocabulary words. We have not set a due date for the good copy yet.

Math--The purple worksheet on powers of 10 --# 1, 2, and 3 are due tomorrow. Students should be reviewing concepts if they are planning on writing the rewrite on Friday at noon. Anyone who did not get 75% or better will be rewriting.

Science--The mid-unit test is tomorrow so students need to be reviewing tonight.

SS--The web on "What is Society?" is due Friday.

Music--You have a test tomorrow.

Daily Update--Oct.9/12

ELA--All bio-poems are due tomorrow morning, ready to hand in.  We corrected the vocabulary and will decide on the test date soon.

Math--The mid-unit test was handed back today. Students need to have corrections done on a separate sheet of paper and get the test signed and returned tomorrow. The students who did not reach 75% must come in for extra help at noon for the remainder of the week and will rewrite on Friday. This is also open to anyone who would like to rewrite, however, they must come in for extra help as well.

Science--The mid-unit test has been postponed until Thursday of this week. Please review the checklist topics every night.

French--Dictee is on Thursday.

Daily Update--Oct.3/12

ELA--The Synonym/Antonym page is due tomorrow. We are working in class on our bio-poems and have not yet set a due date.

Math--The mid-unit test is tomorrow, so I have asigned worksheet 1.11--questions #1 to 4, 10, 14, 17, 22, and 28a   for review. They should also use the flip side and the textbook to work on any other questions which they may have trouble with. I am at the school by 7:45 if anyone wants to come in early (before 8:40) for extra help.

Science--Have the good copy of the lab report completed up to and including the diagrams for tomorrow.

ELA--We checked over our September calendar and added up all pages read in the month, and many students reached their individual reading goals as well as surpassed our class goal. We read over 13000 pages as a class. That means we will be celebrating our achievement with a reading party. Specifics are still pending but we will let you know as it is decided upon.

Students need to get their unit 1 vocabulary test and dictation signed and returned to school tomorrow.


Math--Review worksheet questions #1 to 5 are due tomrrow. We will be writing a mid-unit test on Thursday.

Science--We will be dissecting the grasshopper tomorrow, so if anyone can catch more grasshoppers tonight that would be appreciated.


Art--Tagging assignment is due tomorrow.
