Daily Update--Sept.30/09

ELA--I returned the students' vocabulary tests today. They need to make the corrections, have you sign the test, and then return it to me tomorrow. Vocabulary unit 2 has been handed out today, and the page of synonyms and antonyms is due Friday. Bio poems are also due Friday. Tomorrow the Sept. calendars are due. First reading response should be done by next week.

Science--We had a very interesting grasshopper dissection today. The Science test is on Friday.

SS--Timelines were handed in today. The worksheet from yesterday will be corrected tomorrow.

Cooking test is tomorrow.

8S Health poster is due next day 2.

Math-- Booklet 3.3 page 99 and 100 questions #4 a and b, #6,10,15,and 17 due tomorrow.

Science--Collect grasshoppers. Dissection will be tomorrow.

SS--Worksheet is due tomorrow. Personal timelines are due tomorrow as well.

Cooking test on Thursday.

8S Health--Health triangle poster project is due by next Day 2.

ELA--The Evidence of Learning vocabulary word is due tomorrow. The biopoems are due Friday. Our September calendars are due Thursday morning. I hope students have been reading and will have reached their September reading goal. The first reading response should be finished and handed is by next MOnday just to stay on top of things and manage time.

Math--The students' first journal entry (one written by themselves) is due tomorrow. Many finished in class.

Science--If you can, bring in grasshoppers. Have your coiled Science lab book in class tomorrow. Grasshopper dissections will be happening on Wednesday.

SS--Personal timelines are due this Wednesday.

Cooking test on safety will be written next class--Day 4.

8C--Your timelines must be handed in tomorrow. The sheet handed out today in class needs to be completed for tomorrow.


Signed informational letter should be handed in asap.

ELA-Study for your vocabulary test for tomorrow. Work on your "Evidence of Learning" assigned today. It will be due next Monday/Tuesday. Your Biopoem rough draft should be done;good copy is due next week.

Math--Booklet 3.3 page 28 #1,2,and 3 can be done on the worksheet;#7 and 8 to be done in your scribbler.

SS--Work on your personal timelines which are tentatively due next Wednesday.

Science--Collect grasshoppers for the dissection.

8C--Your personal timelines are due next Tuesday.

Remember to bring in your Terry Fox pledge sheets tomorrow. For $2, you can wear a hat tomorrow. Proceeds go toward the run.

An informational letter was sent home today. Please ask your child for it, and have the bottom portion signed and returned to school tomorrow. Thank-you!

Daily 21/09Update--Sept.

ELA--Continue reviewing your words in preparation of the vocabulary unit test on Thursday.
Work on the rough draft of your bio-poem. We will be working on them in class tomorrow and deciding on a due date at that time.

Math--Assignment on page 24 and 25 in Booklet#3.1--questions #1 to 5, #6,7,#8 b and d and #9 for tomorrow.

Science--Start collecting grasshoppers for the dissection.

SS--Start looking for pictures for your timeline. More discussion and the rubric will follow tomorrow in class.

Daily Update--Sept.21/09

ELA--Vocabulary Unit 1 test will be on Thursday,so students need to start review tonight. I suggested that they review 10 words tonight, 10 tomorrow night and then review all again on Wednesday night. They need to know the definitions of the words, how to use them correctly in sentences, as well as synonyms and antonyms.
--They should have started their rough draft of their bio-poems. We will be working in class on the poems tomorrow.

Math--Page 15 of the 1.2 handout. Complete #5,#7,#9 i,iii, #11,#12 i),iv),and vi,and #13 e,f,g,h for tomorrow.

SS--I explained the Personal Time line today and showed some examples. Students should start thinking about events and pictures that they want to include on their timeline.

8C--Have your list of events and questions with answers in class tomorrow as we will start your timelines. The timeline due date is tentatively set for next Tuesday, Sept.29.

ELA--Daily reading. Vocabulary booklet is due Monday. Vocabulary UNit 1 test will be next Thursday (Sept.24.) I introduced the Bio-poem today so students can start brainstorming ideas for that poem.

ELA--Daily reading. The rest of the vocabulary booklet is due Monday. They can work on it tonight and then not have it for homework over the weekend.

ELA--Daily reading for 20 minutes. The vocabulary booklet page dealing with synonyms and antonyms is due tomorrow.

Math--In your daily assignment scribbler,answer questions #4,5,8,and 9 on page 8 in Booklet #1.1 . Make sure you do the work in pencil and it is done by tomorrow.

ELA--All good copies of the friendly letter are due tomorrow. We started our vocabulary unit today. Please ask the students about the procedures. The synonym section was assigned today and will be due Thursday. Keep reading every night.

SS--The Scavenger Hunt booklet and the Index sheet are all due tomorrow.

Try to get as many pledges as you can for the Terry Fox Run/Walk.

ELA--Students, you need to read over the weekend. You want to reach your goal by the end of the month. You also need to work on the rough draft of your friendly letter. The draft is due Tuesday.

Science--Mrs. Clarke would like all title pages completed and handed in Monday.

8C students--Your scavenger hunt paper is due Monday.

Daily Update--Sept.10/09

Welcome to a new school year!
It has been an exciting two days for me meeting my new class of students. I hope the students have also had two good days so far.
I have given the students this blogsite so they will now be able to check it every night for homework and/or other important information.
Parents also can have access to this site, so please feel free to check it daily.

I hope to see you at the Open House tonight.

The only homework 8T has tonight is to read for atleast 20 minutes, and their Science title page is due tomorrow.
