Wednesday, June 27/12

The last day of school for the students! Can you believe that the year is over?
This is the last blog entry for the year!
I would like to thank the students for a great year! I wish them all the best in high school next year!

Daily Update--June 22/12

On Monday we will be going on our field trip to Winnipeg. Remember to dress for the weather and for walking. Students also need to bring a bag lunch. They can bring some extra money if we happen to stop for a treat. We will be home by 3:30.

Students are also taking home their portfolios and scrapbooks.

Daily Update--June 221/12

We are completing our portfolios tomorrow so if any students have any tests or other assignnments lingering at home they should be brought to class for tomorrow.

Students planning on going to Winnipeg on MOnday for th field trip MUST have their forms and money in TOMORROW. Thank you!

We are planning on having our last reading party tomorrow so we will be going outside for a baseball game for two periods, if the grounds are dry. Then we will walk over to Syl's, so students should bring some money with them tomorrow.

Daily Update--June 20/12

ELA--Bring pictures for the memory book. Five people still need to bring in their scrapbooks and portfolios.

Permission forms and money for our field trips to the Legislative Building on Monday and our swimming afternnon on Tuesday need to be in asap.

Daily Update--June 19/12

ELA--We are finishing our Memory Books so students need to have their typing completed and they need to bring in pictures for the book. Work on the wordle for your cover page.

We are also starting our scrapbooks and portfolio work tomorrow, so these need to be in the classroom.

SS--Students were to do their "remake" of the Roman test by doing some type of "projects" or "test" which is due tomorrow morning.

I have handed out a letter and permission slip for our "Swim Day" on Tuesday, June 26. The money and form need to be in asap. The money and form for our Field trip on Monday to the Legislative Bui;lding and Saint Boniface Museum is also due asap.

ELA--Please use the weekend to work on collecting pictures for your memory books. We will either put them in the books or scan them into the book. Please remember to get your essay rubric signed.

Science--You are writing your test on Tuesday.

Remember your signed permission slip and $5 to the office asap.

Daily Update--June 14/12

ELA--Look for pictures for the Memory Book. We have decided that these books will be stored away in the school until the students are in grade 12 at which time they will be able to open the books and read all about their 'memories". We have extended the due date to next Wednesday. Sighed essay rubrics need to be in asap.

Math--Textbook pages 51-53--questions 7,10,17,and 20 for tomorrow.

Science--Test is on Tuesday.

Pink permission form and $5 for our field trip on the 25th should be in asap.

Daily Update--June 13/12

ELA--Students should be collecting pictures which they would like to put into their Memory Book. We are working on the good copies right now and hopefully will be able to scan pictures into the books. It will be due by next Wednesday.

Math--We started the unit on rates and ratios. They have an assignment on the 2.2 worksheet--all of the questions for tomorrow.

SS--We have a Roman Civilization test tomorrow.

A permission slip was sent home today in regards for our field trip on Monday, June 25. It needs to be signed and returned to the office with $5.00 as  soon as possible.

Daily Update--June 12/12

The students wrote their Math exam today, and I hope they did well on it. Tomorrow we will be starting our unit on Rates and Ratios.

ELA--We started typing out the good copy of our Memory Books today, and will continue. Students need to make sure all rough drafts are completed. We will be starting on our travel brochures tomorrow.

SS--Thank you to all the students and parents who brought food today for our Roman Afternoon of games and feasting. I certainly hope the students enjoyed playing the variety of games. The test on the Rome will be on Thursday.

Science--Supplies for teh filter are due.

French--The script is due tomorrow.

Daily Update--June 11/12

Tomorrow is the Math exam. Students need to have pencils, an eraser, and a calculator with them. It should take about 2 hours to write the exam. I will be at school by 7:45 if anyone would like to come in for any last questions or help.
Tonight the students can continue to work through the white booklet and the two pink sheets.

Students also need to remember to bring their food for tomorrow's "Roman Afternoon". They also need to bring a plate, glass, and a fork. They need to bring a sheet and a belt for their toga. A t-shirt and shorts can be worn underneath the toga.

Hopefully your child brought home the letter on Friday. It outlined the activites which will be happening this month.

Daily Update--June 8/12

ELA--The students should have their essay rubric signed and returned on Monday. Have all the "Memory Book" rough drafts all done by Wednesday. Think about what city you would like to make a travel brochure on.

Math--Last weekend to review for your Math exam. Complete the green booklet on Linear Relations and complete the white booklet which is a review of everything.

SS--Our Roman Afternoon is on Tuesday. Hopefully you received the detailed letter.

I have sent home a letter describing most of the June activities. Please ask your child for it if they forget to give it to you.
Monday is June-So-Soon, but if the weather is not favourable for a beach day, regular classes will be held.

Daily Update--June 6/12

ELA--The timetoast timeline with the comic strip as  the cover page is all due Friday morning. You are also working on the Memory Book.

Math--Exam review--Percent worksheet--all of it for tomorrow. Exam next Tuesday. There is also the white revewu booklet which students can be working on.

SS--A letter has gone home describing the "Roman Afternoon". Students need to decide what type of food they will be bringing, and they need to have a flat sheet for their toga.

Tonight is also the "Arts Appreciation Evening" starting at 7pm.

Daily Update--June 4/12

ELA--We will be writing the vocabulary test tomorrow, so please go over the words and be able to use them correctly in sentences. We worked on the timeline(timetoast) today, so students can still  be working on this at home and the comic strip will act as the cover page of the timeline. I am hoping this is completed by Thursday of this week. The Memory Book chpater 1 to 7 should be done. The cover jacket for the novel is due Wednesday to be entered into the contest.

Math--The unit test was returned today so students need to do their corrections and get it signed and returned tomorrow. We have also started the exam review. A checklist has been handed out, and we reviewed operations of fractions. An assignment was given, and students need to check back to their notes or check in their textbooks for more examples and steps if they do not remember. I will also be having extra Math help every noon hour until the exam (next Tuesday).

SS--All Roman board games are due Wednesday.

Daily UPdate--June 1/12

WOW!!!June 1st!!!

ELA--The homework is relatively the same as we are working on three on-going projects:"Timetoast" timeline is now in the process of being typed out at school, however the cover of it which is a comic strip will be due by the end of the week; the cover jacket for the novel is due by Wednesday; and the vocabulary test for the second group of words will be written on Tuesday. We are also working on the Memory Book which should have seven chapters of rough drafts completed with one chapter left to go.

Math--We wrote our unit test today, and will start reviewing for our final exam which will be written on
 June 12. Students will be getting a checklist on MOnday when they start their review. A letter will be going home shortly explaining the next few weeks and their events.

SS--All Roman board games are due Wednesday.

Art--All projects are due Monday, June 4.

8C--SS--All Roman board games are due Wednesday.

8R--SS--All Roman board games are due Wednesday.
