Daily Update--March 23/12

Thank you very much to those students and parents who were able to attend our conferences yesterday and today. It is always welcoming to talk about the students'strengths and abilities, and to decide on goals for next term. For those who I did not get a chance to meet with, I hope we will be able to touch base in early April.

For the break, students need to complete their short story unit project and be ready to hand it in by Tuesday, April 2. Remember to check the rubric to make sure you have included all materials.

Math--There is a short assignment on pages 337-340 --# 7,9,10,11,13,and 16 which is due MOnday when we get back.

Your sewing test will be on Tuesday, April 3.

Enjoy the break; and remember-- find that sun ray and read a good book!

Daily Update--March 21/12

Students should now have their scrapbooks and their portfolios at home so they can go over it with parents. Hopefully you will have time to do so before interviews on Thursday and Friday.

ELA--Students are working on their short story unit project which can be handed in either tomorrow or Tuesday, April 2.

Math--Textbook page 337-340--# 5,6,8,12, and 14 for tomorrow.

Daily Update--March 20/12

ELA--Continue to work on your short story unit project. If you cannot get it done to the expectations outlined, then you can work on it over the break and hand it in on Tuesday, April 3.

Math--Hand in corrected and signed unit tests on integers. We also started the next unit on Linear Relations and assigned 9.1 worksheet for tomorrow.

Science--Study for tomorrow's unit test.

Portfolios should be at home so parents can go over them with the students before interviews. There are many students who have not returned the letters stating your chosen interview times.

Daily Update--March 19/12

Hi! Sorry I am a little late today, but the internet went down just before badminton and I have just had some time at the moment to update.

ELA--The students are working on their short story unit project. They should have the story frames completed as well as the character map. If they do not have time to complete it by Thursday, they will have to finish it over the break. We also have the unit 6 vocabulary test tomorrow.

Math--I returned the Integer test today, and have asked the students to do their corrections, get the test signed, and return it tomorrow.

Science--They should be reviewing for Wednesday's test.

The students have taken their portfolios home today, and hopefully they will have time to go through them with their parents before our interviews. Please return the letter with your chioce of interview times for our conferences Thursday/Friday.

Daily Update--March 16/12

ELA--Work on your short story unit project. Finish the three story frames, and work on the character map or the setting or both. The project is due Thursday, or else you will be working on it over the break. Unit 6 vocabulary test is on Tuesday.

Science--Review for Wednesday's test.

SS--Get the model for your project completed and handed in on Monday.

Report cards went home today. A letter indicating interview times also went home. Please make your choices and return the letter to school on Monday.

ELA--Students should be working on finishing 2 or 3 of the story frames by tomorrow to stay on schedule. Vocabulary test is on Tuesday.

SS--Work on finishing your Egypt research project. Dictionary and powerpoint are due tomorrow. You have until MOnday to build your model.

ELA--Students should have all five short stories read by tomorrow in order to begin the first part of their unit project. Unit 6 vocabulary test will be written on Tuesday, March 20.

SS--The Egyptian dictionary, powerpoint presentation, and model are due by Friday.

Science--Unit test is next week Wednesday, so students should start reviewing now.

Woodworking test is on Day 4--Friday.

Daily Update--March 13/12

ELA--All "Word Scenes" are due tomorrow morning. Students can also be working on their short stories unit project by first reading the story selections.

Math--Unit test on integers is tomorrow. I told the students to review questions on pages 318/319 and work on concepts that they are still struggling with.

SS--Work on the dictionary, the powerpoint, and the model. This is due by the end of the week.

Daily Update--March 8/9

ELA--This weekend the students should take advantage of the extra day to work on their word scenes which are due no later than Wednesday. Their rough drafts should be editted.

Math--We have the unit test on Wednesday, March 14. A large assignment on page 315-317 was given out on Wednesday. Check the March 7 blog entry for the specific questions.

SS--The Egyptian research project will be due by the end of the week so students should be finishing the dictionary section this weekend, and making notes for part B. remember the model as well.

Daily Update--March 7/12

ELA--There were a few students who did not get their fourth book report handed in today. I will expect them in tomorrow morning. Rough draft of their "Evidence of Learning" should already be done so I can edit with them. The good copy will be due next week Tuesday/Wednesday.

Math--8.5 in the textbook, page 315-317--# 4 a and b, #5 a and b, #6 a and b, #7 a and b, and in problem format--#8 and 15, and then #9a and b,#13,and#14. All is due Monday, and the unit test is scheduled for Wednesday.

SS--Continue working on your research. Projects are due by the end of next week.

Remember that our field trip to the U of M is tomorrow. Students need to bring a lunch, their gym clothes, and clean running shoes as they are using the university's gym facilities.

ELA--The final book report for this term is due by 3:40 tomorrow. Students should have the rough draft of their word scenes close to finished so I can edit with them. The word scene will be due next Tuesday/Wednesday.

Daily UPdate--March 2/12

ELA--Comprehension questions for the short story "Dreams" is due Monday. The fourth and last book report for this term is due Wednesday. I also introduced the next "Evidence of Learning", however the students should complete the questions and book report first this weekend before working on the vocabulary.

Math--Page 310-311--#7,8,9,10, and in problem format-#11,12a and 15 , and then #16,17, and 18 for Monday.

SS--Have the reading strategy sheet completed for Monday. Also have your project/presentation sheet signed along with your test.

Daily Update--March 1/12

ELA--The students were given the short story "Dreams" to read. They then need to answer the comprehension questions. This is their second time at answering comprehension questions,so I hope they will do a better job at them. They also need to get their answers from "Catch" signed and returned tomorrow. The fourth and last book report is due Wednesday, March 7.

Math--White assessment sheet needs to be signed and returned.

Science--"Glasses" booklet is due tomorrow.

Woodworking test is tomorrow.

Please remember to bring in your money, permission form, and waiver form for the U of M field trip into the office asap.
