Daily Update--January 31/12

We wrote the first part of the ELA assessment today. Tomorrow we will continue with essay writing (completing and editting), and the grammar.
For tonight, reread your essay writing notes, and complete the grammar paragraph editting assignment. Complete the fifteen sentences (rough draft) for tomorrow. Work on your book report.

SS--Complete the five questions on the Knowledge Chart for tomorrow.

Daily Update--January 30/12

Tomorrow we will begin the first part of the ELA assessment. Students need to have their pencil case with pens and pencils in it.They should also bring along a thesaurus and dictionary.
I hope they have a healthy breakfast as well.
The exam will start 9:15 and stop at 1o:30. We will continue in the same pattern on Wed and Thursday. If you have any questions, please give me a call tonight.

ELA--Students need to get their essay evaluation signed tonight and returned tomorrow. They should read over their essay notes and grammar worksheets. Their 15 sentences for the evidence of learning is due tomorrow. The third book report is due at the end of the week.

Math--Page 220/221 in the textbook #6--diagrams, and in problem format # 15 and 16 will be due Wed.

Science--Bring in a shoe box.

Health--Puzzle is due tomorrow.

Sewing--Poster is due tomorrow.

Woodworking--Have a picture chosen and printed.

Have your permission form and money for the IMAX field trip handed in tomorrow.

Daily Update--January 27/12

ELA--Our ELA assessment starts next Tuesday. The students should look over their essay notes this weekend to review the important parts of an essay and know how to write one. They also have a paragraph to edit for Monday. The 15 sentences for their "Evidence of Learning" are due Monday so we can edit together. The third book report is due the end of next week.

Math--The students need to do the corrections of the short assessment which they wrote yesterday. They also need to get it signed for MOnday.

Science--Bring in your shoe box, and get your test signed.

Health--The skeletal puzzle is due Tuesday.

A letter and permission form outlining our next field trip--to IMAX --on Tuesday, Feb.7 was given out today. PLease sign it and hand in form and money to the office.

ELA--In grammar, have the first paragraph (the one side) editted for tomorrow. You are also working on your third book report. I introduced the "Evidence of Learning" for Unit 5 today, so you can start working on those sentences.

SS--Review, review, review. The test is tomorrow. You should go over everything on the checklist one more time. Write and talk out your answers. Go over definitions.

ELA--The students have two grammar sheets on sentence structure which are due tomorrow. They need to work on their third book report.

Math--Textbook #6.4 page 220--# 4,5,7,8, and 9, and in problem format #11 and 12 for tomorrow.

SS--Study by doing as the test is on Friday. Some material still needs to be signed and returned to class.

Science--Get the next booklet completed and get the test signed. Bring in a shoe box.

8C--SS--Have the notes on "Legacies" done for tomorrow, and review by DOING. Some material still needs to be signed and returned to class.

ELA--Students have three more grammar worksheets to work on tonight dealing with subjects and predicates. Exam starts next Tuesday.They should also work on their third book report.

Math--Worksheet # 6.4 # 1 b and c, #2,3,5,6,9,and 10, and in problem format #7 and 8 for tomorrow.

SS--Get booklet and 3 point approach signed and returned tomorrow. Study by doing tonight by making notes on the Sumerian Legacies for tomorrow. Test is on Friday.

Science--Finish the booklet and get your test signed for tomorrow. Also bring in a shoe box.

daily Update--January 23/12

ELA--Students handed in their essays today, and now we are concentrating on grammar. They have a worksheet dealing with sentence fragments and run-on sentences. This is due tomorrow. They should also be working on their third book report which is due Feb.3.

Math--I gave the students four questions on cross-cancelling to do for tomorrow.

Science--Bring in a shoe box to class.

SS--Get pink Mesopotamia booklet signed and returned to class. Our test is on Friday. Tonight the students must "Study by Doing" so that tomorrow they can show me what they did as part of their studying.

Health--The puzzle of the skeletal system is to be worked on. The rewrite of the matching of scientific and common bone names will be Wednesday at noon.

ELA--The good copy of the essay must be completed ,along with a cover jacket, for Monday morning. If it needs to be printed, make sure that is done before 9 am. Students can also begin working on their third book report.

Math--Work on 6.3 textbook page # 214/215 # 3,5,6, and , in problem format, # 7,9, and 10.

SS--Get the pink Mesopotamia booklet signed, and complete the 3-point approach sheet done for Monday. The students will be writing the Mesopotamia test next Thursday or Friday, and they have been given a checklist so they should start studying now.

Daily Update--January 18/12

Tomorrow we are going to MB Ag. Days in Brandon, weather permitting. Students must be at the school by 7:15. Please make sure they come dressed appropriately as it is to be quite cold. We are also doing a fair bit of walking so they need appropriate footwear. They can bring a lunch or they can bring money as there are concession stands at the Keystone Center. If you are unsure if school is cancelled or not tomorrow, you can call me tomorrow at 6:45am or check the website which will report if school is cancelled.

ELA--Work on editting your rough draft, and the good copy of your essay. Grammar sheet is also due.

Math--Worksheet 6.3 #1 to 6, 8, 9, and 10 (in problem format).

ELA--I handed out a letter in regards to our ELA mid-year assessment. Please have a read of it and let me know if you have any questions.
The students need to have the rough draft of the three body paragraphs written for tomorrow. I handed out a grammar sheet which is also due tomorrow.

Math--6.2 textbook work--page 208/209--#4,5,6, and in problem format--#7,8,10, and 11 for tomorrow.

ELA--Vocabulary booklet for unit 5 is to be completed for Monday. For the essay, students should complete their jot notes and work on the introductory paragraph and the first and second body paragraphs for Monday. We are looking at having the good copy completed by Friday, Jan.20.

Math--Pink worksheet 6.2 questios #1 to 6, #7a, #8a, and in problem format #9 for Monday.

SS--Get the Map quiz signed and complete the pink booklet on Mesopotamia by Monday.

Science--Study for Monday's test on the heart and the circulation.

ELA--Students should work on their jot notes for the essay--have the notes completed for the introductory paragraph and the first body paragraph--for tomorrow. The cover jacket is due tomorrow. The rest of the vocabulary booklet is to be done for Monday.

If students are wanting to watch the Cougar hoockey game tomorrow (12:45 to 3:30), they must have a signed permission form into the office, and bring $2 for admission.
Students also need to hand in their gray permission form for MB. Ag. Days in Brandon to me asap. We would really appreciate parent volunteers for that day as well.

ELA--Vocabulary unit 5 synonym and antonym page is to be completed for tomorrow. The cover jacket for the novel is due Friday. We have started writing an essay, so for tomorrow the students need to decide on their essay topic and begin the jot notes. This is all to be done on the essay organizer that was handed out today.

Math--6.1 textbook page 202 and 203--#5, 6 a and b, #7, and in problem format--#8,9,12, and 15.

SS--Review for a map quiz for tomorrow, and have questions 1 to 5 in the pink booklet done for tomorrow.

Science--Study for Monday's test.

Daily Update--January 9/12

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful holiday season. Now back to the homework. I am trying this again as I had been encountering problems with the blogsite this afternoon. I hope this will work.

ELA--The students have their second book report due tomorrow. Quite a number of students have already handed theirs in which is great. They also have some work and tests that need to be signed and returned tomorrow. We will be adding up our December calendar reading goals tomorrow and hoping that we have reached our individual as well as our class goal.

Math--I handed back their unit tests today, and the students need to do their corrections on a separate sheet of paper and get the test signed for tomorrow.

Students have the opportunity to watch the Cougar hockey game on Friday afternoon. Permission forms have been emailed and should be signed and returned to the office with $2 before Friday.

I also sent a letter home in regards to our trip to Brandon Ag Days. We will be going next Thursday. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please let me know. Permission forms can be handed back to me asap.
