Daily Update--March 25/11

It was great to see students and parents at the conferences last night and today. For the students and parents who were not able to make it, please call me after the break and we can make alternate arrangements.

During the break, students should be enjoying reading their books. The first book project will be due around the middle of April or so. Unit 6 vocabulary test will be Wednesday, April 6.

Enjoy the spring break , and we will see you refreshed on April 4th.

Daily update--March 23/11

ELA--Daily reading for 20 minutes. Grammmar sheet due tomorrow. Unit 6 vocabulary test on Wednesday, April 6.

Math--A few students have not brought in their signed Unit test yet.

Tomorrow we are taking a class picture, and it is hat day.
There are still a few students who have not brought in their time choice for our conferences tomorrow and Friday morning.

ELA--Have the rest of the vocabulary booklet completed for tomorrow. Continue to read. Grammar worksheet is due tomorrow.

Math--Get all test corrections completed and get the test signed. Return it to class tomorrow.

SS--Headings worksheet is due tomorrow.

8V--SS--Map work due tomorrow.

I am still collecting appointment times for conferences. Remember to go over your portfolio before Thursday.

If any girls are interested in attending the Young Women's Conference in April please get your registration sheet and money in to me asap.

Daily Update--March 21/11

ELA--Unit 6 Synonyms and Antonyms page is due tomorrow.

Math--Unit tests were returned today. Students need to get the test signed and work on their corrections. The test must be returned tomorrow.

SS--Heading worksheet part A and B is due Wed.

8C--SS--Illustrations and Crossword worksheets due tomorrow.

8V--SS--Illustrations and Crossword worksheets due tomorrow.

Portfolios and scrapbooks were to be taken home today. Students should make time between tonight and Thursday to go over the contents of both before our conferences, so parents have an idea of the work students have been doing this term. Please have the portfolios and scrapbooks at the conference.

Please return the letter from Friday to school indicating your chioce of interview time for our conference. I will return the letter with the circled time that works out best for our conference.

ELA--READ! Next week we will decide on third term responses/book reports.

Science--Shoe box and colour questions are due Monday. Crossword puzzle is also due Monday.

8C--SS--"Headings" worksheets due Monday.

8V--SS--"Illustrations" and Crossword sheets are due Monday.

Report cards went home today. Please sign the envelop and return the envelop to school. A letter also went home about interview times. Please make a selection as to your perference and return to school on Monday. I will return the letter to you confirming appointment times.

ELA--The short stories are in. YAHOO! They look great! Now to continue to read. We are working on our portfolios in class right now.

Math--We wrote the test today.

Daily Update--March 16/11

ELA--The short story is due tomorrow. Do not forget the colourful and attractive cover jacket, the good copy, the rough drafts, the word list , the plot diagram, and the back jacket. This is to be ready to hand in at 9:00.

MATH--The unit test on fractions is tomorrow. Review from the textbook, the review sheets, and your foldable.

If anyone still has their report card envelop from first term, please bring it to school tomorrow. I am looking for some girls to go the the Young Women's Conference in Wpg. on April 14. I have the info and the registration forms.

Daily Update--March 15/11

ELA--The short story is due Thursday. Everyone has one-30 minute class to work on it tomorrow, and that is it for class time.

Math--More review--complete the green review sheet. Textbook page#238--#9. This is due tomorrow. Make a list of any questions you are struggling with and we will go over them tomorrow. Check over your test checklist,too. Test on Thursday--no calculators.

Science--Bring in a shoe box or tissue box.

Anyone who still has their report card envelop from first term, please return it to me. Thank-you! I also spoke to the girls to see if anyone was interested in attending a Young Women's Conference in Winnipeg on April 14. Hand in the form and money to me asap.

Daily Update--March 14/11

ELA--Everyone is working on the editting of their short story and the cover jackets of those stories. The deadline is Thursday. Please look over the criteria sheet.

Math--Review sheet (green) --#1c,#4B, #6 in problem format, #15a, and then #13 in Problem format. This is for tomorrow. TEST IS ON THURSDAY. Extra help is every noonhour, and I am in school by 8am so students can come in in the morning for extra help.

Science--Bring in your show box.

Daily Update--March10/11

ELA--For the weekend, students should read. Their short story rough drafts should be completed, and if they have editted with me, then they can work on the good copy. Others can self-edit. Everyone can work on their cover jackets. Please make sure your portfolios and scrapbooks are at school for next week.

Math--The assignment from yesterday was posted on the blog yesterday. Make sure it is done for Monday. Unit test will be next Thursday.

Science--Bring in a shoe box for Monday.

Daily Update-March 9/11

ELA--All four book projects should be handed in tomorrow. All rough drafts of your short stories should be tomorrow. I have already editted with students, and would like to edit the rest over the weekend. Get signed vocabulary tests in. All portfolios and scrapbooks should be in the classroom.

Math--Worksheet 6.6--#1,2,3 a and b, #4 a and b, and #5 in problem format. To begin review, work on the questions #1 a and b, #2 in problem format, #4a and #7 on the green review sheet. This is to be completed for Monday as we will not have a class tomorrow. Continue to review as the test is next week.

Science--Bring in a shoe box to class.

Get Health test signed and returned to school.

Tomorrow students are going to the U of M so they need to remember their gym clothes and runners. Bring lunch and a water bottle. There will not be time to go over to buy lunch anywhere, so bring food with you.

ELA--The rough draft of the students' short stories are due tomorrow unless individuals have spoken to me. Hand in signed vocabulary tests. All 4 book projects are due Thursday.

Math--Division of fractions #6.5 in the textbook--page 227--#5 a and c, #7a and b, #8 a and b, #11 in problem format for tomorrow. Unit test next week Wednesday or Thursday.

Health--Get the latest quiz signed and returned to school.

Tomorrow there will be a badminton clinic held during school hours for the students who signed up for after-school badminton. The clinic will run from 1:00 to 2:30 for the grade 8's. If you signed up last week, please remember to bring your racquet to school tomorrow.

ELA--This is the last weekend to work on book projects. Four should be handed in by Thursday. Rough draft of the short stories is due next Wednesday.

Math--We started 6.5--Division of fractions. I assigned worksheet 6.4--#1 to 4, #5 a and c, #6 a and b, #7, and in problem format #10 for Monday.

SS--All project work for the Layered Egyptian Project is due Tuesday. Remember to hand in signed rubrics and tests.
