Daily Update--Dec.22/10

The homework for the holidays includes:
--reading towards reaching their December goal.
--completing their first book project. Some have not handed it in yet!!
--thinking about and maybe even working on their next book project.
--Math test corrections and signature.

Daily Update--Dec. 20/10

ELA--Have your comprehension quiz from chapters 11 and 12 signed and returned to class.

Math--Have corrections done and test signed by Wednesday.

We had a great day today with sharing most of our Christmas writing and having our Christmas party.
Students who are going on the ski trip tomorrow must be at the school by 7:45. It is regular classes for the students staying behind.

Daily Update--Dec.17/10

ELA--Christmas writing is due Monday. I am hoping that all first book projects will be handed in before Wednesday. You should be speaking with me if that is a problem, but to stay on schedule, it should be in. You can then work on the next one over the holidays.

Math--We just started our Math project. No deadline has been set yet.

SS--Have the map work completed for Monday.

Science--Get test signed.

Remember to bring in your Secret Santa gift on Monday for our party. If you offered to bring food, don't forget it.

ELA--Novel quiz on chapters 11 and 12 tomorrow. Review both chapters. Christmas writing due Monday.

Do not forget about bringing your Secret Santa present to school on Monday.

ELA--"Arnold the Apostrophe" grammar booklet due tomorrow. Finish reading the novel, and there is a quiz on chapters 11 and 12 on Friday. Christmas writing due Monday.

SS--Ancient Words worksheet due tomorrow. Get tests signed for tomorrow.

Daily Update--Dec.14/10

ELA--Have chapter 10 of the novel read for tomorrow. We will continue to work on our Christmas writing and grammar tomorrow.

MAth--Use the Math text review page for any questions that you are still unsure of. Unit test tomorrow morning.

Health--We viewed two great presentations today, and will continue on Day 6 with the rest.

We voted in class, and have decided to have Secret Santa in the room for Christmas. Students drew a name out of the jar today, and that is the person for whom they will be buying a small gift. The price range is 5 to 8 dollars;nothing too expensive, just a small gift. I will also be sending a donation from myself and the class to a charity (of which I have not decided yet, but hopefully a local one), and if any students would like to contribute, they can do so. We will have our Christmas party next Monday, so they need to remember to bring in the gift on Monday.

Daily Update--Dec. 13/10

ELA--Finish your reading response if you did not have enough time in class. First book projects are due.

Math--In preparation of Wednesday's test, complete worksheet, the c's in #1 to 5, and in problem format--#8 and 9. In the textbook, #5,9, and 11 for tomorrow.

SS--Complete the web on "What is a civilization?" from pages 50 and 51.

Health--Your anti-smoking presentation is due tomorrow.

Daily Update--Dec. 10/10

ELA--Comprehension questions for chapters 8 and 9 are due Monday. Your first book project is due Monday. Some have already been handed in.

Math--Review worksheet a and b in #1,2,3,4,5,and in problem format #6 and 7 for Monday in preparation of the test Wednesday. Extra help has been offered every day so far, and will be offered next week at noonhour.

SS--Timeline Hunt worksheet with pages 52 and 53 in the textbook is due Monday.

Health--Anti-smoking presentation due Tuesday.

ELA--If anyone is needing the weekend to complete their first book project, you have until Monday to hand it in. Remember that the due dates are an approximation just to keep you on schedule. Comprehension questions are due Monday.

Math--Textbook page 148/149--#4,5,6,8,and 9a in problem format and #10 in problem format. Due tomorrow. Unit test on Wednesday.

SS--Test on Ancient Structures and Settlements is tomorrow.

Science--Research plants to answer your in- class question.

Health--Anti-smoking presentation is due Tuesday, Day 4.

Tomorrow is Hat Day. Please bring a toonie or an unwrapped toy for the Christmas Cheer Board and you can wear your hat in school all day.

Daily Update--Dec. 8/10

ELA--Students are working on their book projects. If needed, they can have the weekend to work on it and hand it in on Monday. I assigned the reading of chapters 8 and 9 in the novel, and a set of comprehension questions are due Monday.

Math--Worksheet #4.4--questions #5 d and #9(in problem format) are due tomorrow. Test will be next Wednesday.

SS--Test on Ancient Settlements and Structures is now on Friday, not tomorrow as previously stated.

ELA--Work on your book project.

Math--Worksheet 4.4 was assigned today. Class time was provided to complete this.

SS--Review notes as you will be writing the test on Thursday.

There is not much homework tonight as the Band concert is tonight.

ELA--Continue to work on your book project which is due this Friday.

Math--Continue to review Math concepts on percentages.

Science--Test tomorrow morning.

SS--Review notes on the ancient settlements and structures as the test will be on Thursday of this week.

ELA--Read chapter 7 of the novel for Monday. No assignment will accompany this reading. Work on your first book project. It is due end of next week. Remember our Skype interview with Arthur Slade Monday morning.

Science--Review for your test on Tuesday.

ELA--Letter for chapter 5 is due tomorrow. Read chapter 6 very carefully as you will have a comprehension test on it tomorrow.

Ski trip forms and money are due tomorrow.

ELA--The letter for chapter 5 of the novel is due Friday. This piece must be self-editted. Anyone entering the Valley Leader Christmas Writing Contest had their work submitted today. Everyone is still working on a Christmas piece for the classroom.

Math--5 step word problem format questions on page 142--#10a, 11,12, and on the worksheet 4.3 #6, 7 a and c for tomorrow.

SS--Projects and models are due tomorrow.
