Happy New Year!!

I trust everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed their holidays.
Everything was back to business in grade 8 today!

ELA--Students should be working on their novel assignments---firstly, cover jackets should be completed and handed in asap. Many have already handed in their creations. The character mobile is next on the list, and it can only be done at home where the students can collect the necessary items that will represent their chosen character's personality. Do not forget to hand in the written section of this assignment. This mobile should be handed in by the end of the week. Check the rubrics for particular criteria for each assignment.
The first book project should also be handed in by the end of the week orMonday to stay on schedule. We will be adding up our December reading pages tomorrow, and signing our January calendars. I hope students reached their individual goals.
I will be introducing essay writing tomorrow, and students will start writing essays, so it is important that the other assignments are close to being finished very soon.

Math--We started our new unit--Fractions--today. No homework tonight.

Science--Title page on Optics is due Wednesday.

SS--We started correcting our Mesopotamia booklet today. Students need to review for their Map quiz which will be written on Thursday.
