Daily Update--March 28/08

Thank-you to everyone who came out for Parent-student-teacher conferences. It was great is meet with everyone.

For the spring break, students can continue reading for their independent reading program. Their first reading response will be due on April 8 (the Tuesday that we get back from break).
For students who were away, remember that your comprehension questions from chapters3-5 in the novel were due Thursday.

Students could also get ahead by working on their SS project on pyramids which will be due April 10.

I hope you have an enjoyable, relaxing Spring Break! See you on MOnday, April 7!

Daily Update--March 26/08

ELA--Comprehension questions for chapters 3 to 5 are due tomorrow.

Math--Please hand in signed and corrected Math tests.

Science-I will hand back your tests tomorrow, and go over them. You then will have the rest of the period to complete the hopscotch and crossword puzzle.

SS--Map and definitions are due tomorrow.

Daily Update--MArch 25/08

ELA--Read chapters 4 and 5 for tomorrow.
--Bring a story book to class if you still do not have one in class.

Math--Have unit test corrections completed and test signed for tomorrow.

Science--Work on your hopscotch and crossword puzzles. No due date has yet been decided on, but the end of the week will probably be suggested.

Daily Update--MArch 24/08

Students took their protfolios home on Thursday, along with their report cards. You do have until our interview time on Thursday or Friday to look through the collection of material. I would like to have the portfolio and scrapbook at the interview. Thank-you!

ELA--Students have started a novel, The Giver. They need to have read Chapter 3 for tomorrow. A one page opinion piece on rules is due tomorrow. We have also decided on the format for third term IRPs, so the first reading response or book report is due April 8.

Math--Take test home for signatures and to get corrections completed.

Science--Have the list of 20 words, and define atleast half of the words for Tuesday.

SS-Map sheet and Maya word sheet are due Wednesday.

Daily Update--March 20/08

The students will be taking home their portfolios so they can go over them with you before Parents' Day. There is also a sheet asking for interview times for next week.

ELA--Comprehension questions on Ch.1 from The Giver are due Monday. They must also have ch.3 read for Monday. They are also to bring in a story book for their creative writing.

We are in need of more Kleenex for the classroom, if there is anyone who has not brought in their box yet.

Daily Update--March 20/08

The first priority for homework tonight will be to prepare for the Science test to be written tomorrow. Students have traded their sample tests, and should review those tonight. Their knowledge chart needs to be completed for tomorrow, and their study logs need to be completed for tomorrow. This must be ready to hand in after they write the test.

Daily Update--MArch 12/08

ELA--Any outstanding book reports/reading responses should be in by end of the day tomorrow.
--Vocabulary story is due Monday.

Math--Unit test is tomorrow. Go over your questions from the textbook for extra work tonight.

Science--Work on your Knowledge Chart. Unit test next week. It was fun to dissect the sheep's heart today. We will write up a short paragraph on the process tomorrow.

SS--Work on your magazine articles.

Daily Update--March 11/08

ELA--Students need all of their reading responses/book reports in by Thursday.
--Vocabulary stories will now be due Monday, if anyone needs more time to write.

Math--Unit test will be written on Thursday. Review#3 is on page 196-197--# 8a, #9a, # 18 a to f, #19a in P.F. , #19 b, and #16 in P.F.
--All daily assignment scribblers need to be handed in on Thursday so make certain all assignments have been completed.

Science--Unit test is next week so this week is to used as the study week. Keep track of your studying time and activities every day in your study log. You should work on your Knowledge Chart and your Sample Test.

SS--You have your own job to do for the magazine.

Daily Update--March 7/08

ELA--The students are compiling 4 or 5 writing pieces from the second term which they will be putting into their scrapbooks. These selections and the reflections must be completed and handed in by next Thursday.
--A total of 6 book reports/reading responses must be completed and handed in by next Thursday.
' --The students are also writing a vocabulary story incorporating words from unit 7. This story will be due mid-week.

Math--We will be writing a unit test next Wednesday ot Thursday, so we are reviewing now. Assignment for Monday is on Page 191 #11 a and b both in P.F.; page 192 # 12 and #13,14,15 in P.F.; page 193 #21 and 22.

SS--Students are working on their magazine stories. The final project will be due around March 19.

Science--We will begin review of this unit. The students have a study log where they should be recording their study habits almost every day. The first job to do is organize their notes. Then they need to produce a study test. Review material every night.
--Dissection of the heart will happen next week.

Daily Update--March6/08

ELA--Work on your vocab. story and your reading response or book report. Both are due next week.

Math-- We will be having a unit test next week, so it is time for review. We started with a review assignment today on page 191. This is due tomorrow. Extra help is happening every day.

Science--I gave the students a checklist today. We will be keeeping a study log in preparation of this unit test. Tonight they can get their notes in order. Tomorrow I will be going over study techniques.

SS--Work on your specific magazine article.

Daily Update--March 4/08

ELA--We are going to have some fun with Shakespeare and write a Jeopardy quiz tomorrow. You need to review your notes again and also get your quiz (from last Friday) signed. Work on your next report/reading response.

Math--Have your surprise quiz corrections done and get the test signed. Return to school tomorrow.

Science--Congratulations to those students who braved the obstacles and did their presentations today. You were AWESOME!!! The rest of the class must present tomorrow, so practice in front of your parents tonight.

SS--Bring your magazines in tomorrow to start your project. Have your map quiz signed and returned tomorrow.

Daily Update--March 3/08

ELA--Students should be working on their last reading response/book report which is due March 13.
--We are putting together our scrapbooks for Term 2, so students should be thinking about the items they would like to place in here.

Math--Page 187--# 4 a to f, #5,6, and #7 in problem format. Due tomorrow.

Science--Booklet questions 1 to 5 are due tomorrow.
Pulmonary circulation presentations are starting tomorrow, and ending on Wed. Please rehearse yours in the next two evenings so you are ready to go.

SS--Bring in a few magazines so we can peruse through them in preparation for our next project.
