Science--We wrote our test today.

Tomorrow we will be having our Christmas party. Part of it will be with just our own class, and part of it will be with all grade 8 students. 8T needs to remember to bring their Secret Santa gifts tomorrow. ELA--Daily reading--20 minutes. We have set a new goal for our book projects. For this term students need to complete 5 to 7 projects before March. We discussed time management and use of class time to accomplish these goals. I will still be setting deadlines, and the first project should be handed in by Nov.24.

When you come back to school on Wednesday, remember that you need to be prepared to write your Math test that day. We will decide if you will write in the morning or the afternoon. Any book projects which were to be handed in on Friday must be in to me Wednesday morning.
The divisional volleyball tournament has been scheduled for Wednesday, Nov.12, starting at 3 o'clock and running until atleast 6 o'clock. Have your gym clothes,especially your blue t-shirt at school.

Tomorrow is our activity day for the Grade 8 students. Students need to remember their permission slips and $2 for tomorrow. Bring a bag lunch, sun screen, bathing suit, towel, and water for our afternoon at the park and pool.

--We will be watching the movie version of Midsummer Night's Dream tomorrow, so remember to bring some munchies for yourself.
Math--New unit--measurement--assignment--page 310 and 311--#3 b and c,#4 c and d,#5 a and b, #7a and #10 for tomorrow.
We presented our models of certain aspects of the Middle Ages. They were all well done;some being extraordinary. Great work,8T!!

working on reading the final three chapters and doing the last set of questions.
- Good copies of creative writing stories are due Tuesday April 29th. You will have one hour
of class time on Monday to work on this assignment. If you feel that you are behind please put in some time working on it this weekend.
- You will have an IRP due at the end of the month/beginning of May. Make sure that you are making good progress reading your book.
Math - Two journal entries are due Monday. One on adding and subrtracting integers. The other on multiplying and dividing integers.
Science - The labs that you have created will be conducted in Monday's science class. Make sure
that you bring all the materials that you require.

Thank-you to everyone who came out for Parent-student-teacher conferences. It was great is meet with everyone.
For the spring break, students can continue reading for their independent reading program. Their first reading response will be due on April 8 (the Tuesday that we get back from break).
For students who were away, remember that your comprehension questions from chapters3-5 in the novel were due Thursday.

Students took their protfolios home on Thursday, along with their report cards. You do have until our interview time on Thursday or Friday to look through the collection of material. I would like to have the portfolio and scrapbook at the interview. Thank-you!

The students will be taking home their portfolios so they can go over them with you before Parents' Day. There is also a sheet asking for interview times for next week.

The first priority for homework tonight will be to prepare for the Science test to be written tomorrow. Students have traded their sample tests, and should review those tonight. Their knowledge chart needs to be completed for tomorrow, and their study logs need to be completed for tomorrow. This must be ready to hand in after they write the test.

Students signed a new reading contract today for the month of February. I hope we reached our class goal of 12000 pages for the month of January. I will be calculating the totals tonight.

--The book report is due Thursday. If anyone cannot reach that goal they must speak to me individually.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful,safe,and happy holiday season and Christmas. Now to get back to work!
ELA--Students signed a new reading contract today and some did mention that they did not read much during the month of December,so I hope many will get back into the routine of reading every night for at least 15 minutes.
--Students should be working on their novel mobile which is due this Friday.
--Vocabulary--Unit 5-synonyms and antonyms is due tomorrow.
--The next reading response is due soon. Two should already be handed in.
Math--Division worksheet #9, 13, and # 14(in problem format) is due tomorrow.
