Good morning, everyone! It is a gorgeous day out there! Spring has arrived.
For the break I have not assigned any homework for the students other than to find a great book and read. A reading assignment of their choosing will be due April 13, so they have the option of completing it during the break, if they have the time, or working on it when they get back. Other than that, no homework!
Thank-you for coming to the interviews; and if ever you have any questions or concerns, please phone me or come in to see me. You are welcome in our classroom at any time.
Hope everyone will have a relaxing and enjoyable spring break!

ELA--Word scenes are due Monday or Tuesday.
Math--No homework.
Science--Fluoresecent lignt bulb drawing and explanation due Monday.
Report cards have been sent home today. Students also have taken their portfolios home. I have explained to the students that the mark on their report card is an average mark of their work from September up to March. The mark which they calculated in their portfolio is strictly from November to March, so they have an idea as to how they have improved (or otherwise)w this term as compared to last term. Please send back the bottom portion of the letter indicating time for our interviews next week.
Thank-you and have a great weekend.
Good luck to Nathan Horsman who is representing our school at the regional spelling bee this Saturday in Winnipeg! Go Nathan, go!!

Daily Update--March 5/07
ELA--We discussed the short story project today, and I was expecting all projects to be handed in today after class. We discussed time management and not leaving things to the last minute. There were a few circumstances beyond our control and I realize that. They were many projects that should have been ready to hand in today but were not handed in. Those late projects are due tomorrow after working through lunch hour today.
--The book report is due tomorrow. As we discussed throughout this term, a minimum of 5 reading responses/book reports are due by the end of Thursday. Many students have reached, and even surpassed, this goal, but others have not. Students know that this Friday may have to be used as a catch-up/completion day if things are not handed in on time.
--We have started compiling our writing peices into our scrapbooks today, with the intention of completing this task by Thursday.
Math--No assignment tonight, but there are some students who need to catch up on some missing daily assignments and/or journal entries. We will begin review of this unit tomorrow with a unit test slated for next Monday or Tuesday.
Health--Board games will be due. 8A--Due Mon.Day 3
8B--Due Thurs.Day 2 or Day 4

Daily Update--March 1/07
Good morning everyone!
I did not update the blog yesterday as the homework was very similar to the last entry. Today, however, after the students have slept in, played in the snow and hopefully shovelled some snow, it is a perfect day to work on the ELA assignments.
In ELA the students have the short story unit project which is due tomorrow by noon. The book report is due on MOnday.
In Math, I assigned some questions off the board which are due tomorrow. We are working on the last type of percent problem and then will begin review of this unit. The unit test will probably be end of next week.
In Health, both classes are working on their board games. Class 8B have set their due date as next Tuesday, end of class.
Have a great day!
