Daily Update--NOv.30/06

ELA--Vocab.Unit 3-synonyms and antonyms due tomorrow.
--Read chapter 11 and 12 in The OUtsiders for Monday and be prepared to write a comprehension test on the events of those chapters Monday.
--Comprehension questions for chapters 9 and 10 from The OUtsiders is due Monday.

Math--Journal entry #6 due tomorrow.

Science--Lab report due tomorrow.

Daily Update-November 28/06

ELA--November calendar is due December 4/06.
Story frame for the Christmas story is due tomorrow so I can discuss it with each student and they can begin their creative writing.
--Chapters 9 and 10 in The Outsiders must be read for Thursday.

Math--Subtracting of Fractions--assignment page 292and 293--#6,9, and (10 and 11 in problem format) Due tomorrow.

Science--Work on the lab report on Animal and Plant Cells. It will be due at the end of tomorrow's class.

Health 8A and 8B--There are some fitness projects that have not been handed in yet. They are due tomorrow or students will be spending noonhours with me until they are handed in.

There have been some great book reports handed in. Good job,8T!

ELA--Students are reading, trying to finish their book in order to work on their chosen book report--due approximately Nov.27. If we find we need more time (or lose some class time due to other activities) this due date may change by a few days.
--An adjective drawing is due Monday. A handout with instructions was handed out.

Math--Worksheet on fractions is due Monday.

Science--Get test signed.

Health--8A--Fitness project due Thursday, Nov.23.

ELA--For tomorrow, students must have read Chapter 4 of the novel and prepared themselves for a comprehension test on the events and details of that chapter.
--The Root Word assignment (8 words made up of that root) with definitions and descriptive sentences using those words, embellished with colourful drawings is due tomorrow.

SS--Quiz on Thursday.

Health--8A--Fitness project due Thursday, NOv.23.
--8B--Fitness Project due Monday, NOv. 27.

Daily Update--November 13/06

ELA-Reading every night. I handed out the choices for the book activity. Students need to finish the chosen book first before they work on the book report. The tentative date for this report will be the end of the month--Nov.27. If they feel their book is too long or they may have difficulty completing it by the date, please speak to me in advance.
--Root word assignment is due Wednesday.
--Students need to read Chapter 4 in The Outsiders and prepare for a comprehension test of that chapter. Know what happened in detail.

Math--Six questions were given on the board today;due tomorrow. Students need to be reviewing the concepts daily, and come in for extra help at noon hour.

Science--Quiz on the functions of the organelles will be written tomorrow.

Health 8A and 8B--Students should be working on the written section of their Fitness Project. A due date will be set this week.

Daily Update--Nov.9/06

ELA--Students are working on their novel assignment--due MOnday. If they have their rough copy done for tomorrow then we can edit together.
--A new assignment on Root Words was explained today. For tomorrow they should have their 8 chosen words and start on the definitions. Project due next week.

Science--1 worksheet and 1 crossword due tomorrow.Function test next Tuesday.

I have sent a letter home requesting times for student-led conferences. Please send those back to school as soon as you can.

Daily Update--Nov.8/06

ELA--Students are to read Chapter 3 from the OUtsiders and start on a rough draft of a summary and reflections. They have the details . The draft(s) must be editted and revised before they write the good copy. Due date has not been set.

--We have signed a new contract for reading. Students have chosen a book to read for their "book activity" which I will be explaining in a few days ; so right now, just read.

Math--Fractions--Assignment page 288 #4,5,6,9,10, and 11 for tomorrow.

Science--Crossword puzzle due tomorrow. Test on the functions of the animal and plant cells will be next week.

Daily Update--November 3/06

ELA--All scrapbooks containing four writing pieces should be in . I have told students that they should bring it in on Monday if it is not in today.
--All four reading responses should also be in today.

Math--I am missing a few journals and the students know who still need to hand these in.
--A few signed tests with completed corrections need to be handed in.

Some students still need to hand in signed information letters.
