I am very sorry that there has not been an entry for the past two days, but the blogger site was down.

The only homework 8T has for the holidays is to relax with a good book (read) and have a great holiday.

--We are working on the novel essay in class.

Math--Page 319--#5, 13a, and in problem format--#14 and 17 for tomorrow.

Science--Get Science test signed.
--Finish Aim #13 for tomorrow.

SS--Quiz tomorrow.

For our Christmas party, students have decided to bring in $5 each and we will order pizza for Thursday' party. The money will pay for the pizza, chips, and pop. I will be renting a movie to watch that day. We will also be revealing our Secret Santa that day.

ELA--Character mobile with a one page explanation of the items and their significance is due MOnday.
--Vocabulary test on Unit 3 is on Tuesday.
--Christmas writing is due Thursday.
--We starting working on "How to write an essay" and will be working on one dealing with the novel in class. This will not be due until the end of the first week back after the holidays.


The students handed in creative, attractive cover jackets for the novel today. They have all been entered into our class contest.
We started with our "Secret Santa" today and will continue next week.

ELA--A cover jacket for The Outsiders is due tomorrow and it will be entered into the contest.

Science--Students need to complete Aim#12 for tomorrow.

SS--Rewrite tomorrow.

Health 8A--Test on the muscle groups and their spellings is tomorrow.

As a class we have decided to have "Secret Santa" starting tomorrow and running until next Friday. The students can bring a little" gift" for their classmate each day and then have a larger gift presented on Friday, Dec. 22. The cost should be around 5 or 6 dollars. Some students have decided to opt out of this activity which is fine, and as an alternative, they have decided to donate to a charity. Some students have decided to be part of both activities.

Daily Update--Dec. 7/06

ELA--Cover Jacket for The Outsiders is due Dec. 15. This will be entered into our class contest with some REALLY big prizes.
--The two packages of Christmas writing are due Thursday, Dec.21,but don't be fooled by the length of time before the due date because there is a lot of writing that needs to be completed.

Math--The students have put together four quizzes that need to be signed and will show their progress in these consepts.

Science--A microscope quiz is set for Tuesday,Dec. 12. A checklist has been given to the students.

A newsletter was given to the students today, and I would like you to sign it and have it returned to school. Thank-you! We are collecting items for the Christmas Cheer Board until next Wednesday. Our total count as of this morning was 35 items. There are quite a number of deadlines and due dates for the next two weeks, so we have been talking about time management and organization as well as using class time wisely.

ELA--Two novel assignments have been assigned. "Character Mobile" and "Cover Jacket Contest". Students have an outline and will be given a rubric tomorrow. We will set due dates tomorrow.

Math--Page 302 and 303--# 6 in Pf ,# 9 and #10 in Pf. for tomorrow.

Science--Lab report is due tomorrow. Remember the Conclusions questions.

We have surpassed our class reading goal of 20,000 pages and in the process of planning a class party to celebrate our achievement. "Way to go" 8T!!!!!!! Keep on reading!

ELA-Reading every night. I handed out the choices for the book activity. Students need to finish the chosen book first before they work on the book report. The tentative date for this report will be the end of the month--Nov.27. If they feel their book is too long or they may have difficulty completing it by the date, please speak to me in advance.
--Root word assignment is due Wednesday.
--Students need to read Chapter 4 in The Outsiders and prepare for a comprehension test of that chapter. Know what happened in detail.

Math--Six questions were given on the board today;due tomorrow. Students need to be reviewing the concepts daily, and come in for extra help at noon hour.

Science--Quiz on the functions of the organelles will be written tomorrow.

Health 8A and 8B--Students should be working on the written section of their Fitness Project. A due date will be set this week.

ELA--Students are working on their novel assignment--due MOnday. If they have their rough copy done for tomorrow then we can edit together.

--We have signed a new contract for reading. Students have chosen a book to read for their "book activity" which I will be explaining in a few days ; so right now, just read.

Math--Fractions--Assignment page 288 #4,5,6,9,10, and 11 for tomorrow.

I told the students there would not be any homework today because it is Halloween, however there are always some things which they can do.

ELA--A few memoirs are still not in.

--Four writing pieces are to be done by Friday. Some students will need to write a piece of their choice by Friday.
--Continue to work on the four reading responses.

Math--Have your Unit test signed, and work on your corrections.

Science--The 3-D cell model with a diagram was due today.

ELA--A scrapbook is needed in class as soon as possible. Students will be choosing four of their best writing pieces and including them in their scrapbook. They will need to do some writing if they do not have four pieces. This will be due by the end of the week.
--Four reading responses are due by the end of the week.
--Memoirs should be handed in by now.

Math--Tests were handed back today. Have them signed tonight and start working on corrections.

Science--The 3-D model of the cell is due tomorrow. Check your rubric for the requirements.
--We had the diagram quiz today. Be prepared for a surprise quiz on the functions of the organelles any time. Review your flashcards.

Our reading party is tomorrow. Some students have offered to bring munchies and movies. Thank-you.

Daily Update--Sept. 25,2006

Hello everyone! Finally I have this blog up and working. I apologize for any inconviences the delay may have caused. Now for the homework update...

ELA--Students are reading every evening. Their Sept. calendar/reading goal is due October 4.
--Vocabulary test for Unit 1 will be written on Thursday. Students should be reviewing every evening. We have discussed some study techniques.

Math--Page 19--#1 a to d, #2 a to d, and #3 a to d (due tomorrow).

Health--Class 8A--Health Triangle is due today.
--Class 8B--Health Triangle is due Wednesday, but if they wanted an extra mark it was to be handed in today.

Terry Fox Run is on Friday, so students are encouraged to gather pledges before then. A T-shirt is being given away to the top fund-raiser. A Moose jersey will also be given away in a draw. For every $ 10.00 a student has raised, their name will be placed in the draw box.

I handed out a letter that students should be bringing home tonight. Please sign it and have the bottom portion returned to school. I hope to continue with such informational letters each month.
